By Guardian Correspondent
The Vice-President Dr Ali Mohamed Shein has reminded civil servants the importance of nurturing the culture of valuing responsibilities vested on them by the nation.
Dr Shein said this at the weekend in Dar es Salaam during an audience with the public servants working in his office.
``Let us build the culture of mutual trust and value for the work we do and we should discharge our duties diligently and under no circumstances should we ignore the trust beston on us by the people we serve,`` he said.
He urged the public servants to discharge their responsibilities in accordance with the expectations of the people of their government.
He said that the government was there to serve the people in order to meet their expectations which the latter promised in the election campaign and is in the ruling party manifesto.
He said every body has responsibilities and if discharged well they would foster the country's prosperity.
Dr Shein emphasised that unity and cooperation between ministry officials and leaders in departments were key in serving the people better.
He also emphasised on ethics and good behaviour between leaders and their subordinates in meeting those goals.
He said leaders were supposed to listen to their subordinates' and try to give appropriate answers to what they hear from them through dialogue so as to ward off unrest and mistrust among them.
He promised them that he would be close enough to see unity among them was given priority in his office.
