3 in court over damage caused to Scandinavia Express Ltd property

Causing malicious damage to an upcountry passenger transporter landed three Dar residents Cuthbet Henry (27), Rashid Selemani (40) and Ferdinand Raphael (20) in court on Friday.

Henry, who resides at Kurasini Sandali; Selemani, who lives in Jet Lumo and Raphael (20), who hails from Tazara appeared before District Principal Resident Magistrate Afumwisye Kibona of Ilala District Court where it was alleged that they committed the offence on May 7, this year at Vingunguti area along Nyerere Highway in the city.

It was alleged that on the material day, the accused did cause malicious damage of four pieces of electrical cables of a transformer, all worth 5.6m/-; the property of Scandinavia Express Service Ltd.

They all pleaded not guilty to the charge. The magistrate slated the case for another mention on May 23, this year.

Meanwhile, a city trader who resides at Temeke, Sultan Ally (19), appeared before Resident Magistrate Samwel Maweda in the same court charged with being in unlawful possession of narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances.

Assistant Inspector of Police Musa Gumbo alleged that the accused committed the offence on May 7, this year at Jangwani area in Kariakoo.

It was alleged that on the day of the event, the accused was arrested by E. Detective Sagent Frank while in possession of one syringe suspected to have contained narcotic drugs.

Ally pleaded not guilty to the charge and was remanded in custody for lack of surety. The case was adjourned to May 23, this year.

In yet another incident, Igari Wambura (28), a trader who resides at Sagalana Village in Mara Region appeared in the same court before Resident Magistrate Agnes Mchome, charged with rape.

Assistant Inspector of Police Daniel Buma alleged that Wambura did commit the offence on an unknown date in April this year at Ukonga Mombasa area.

It was alleged that on the day of the event, the accused did have carnal knowledge of a 16-year-old-girl (name with held), without her consent.
