TBF finally awards NBL winners

The Tanzania Boxing Federation (TBF) has finally awarded the winners of this year\'s National Basketball League (NBL) championship which was held in Tanga in March.
The winners were supposed to be given their prizes after the end of the championship which was staged at Mkwakwani Stadium on March 26, but the presentation ceremony failed to take off because a sponsor did not have prizes at that time.
The event was sponsored by Tanzania Breweries Limited through Kilimanjaro Brand.
TBF Secretary-General Lawrence Cheyo said that TBL recently gave them the prizes for the first three winners.
``We have already given the money to some of the teams,`` Cheya said.
He said men`s champions ABC were give 400,000/- while Savio who emerged third winners got 200,000/-.
``Dodoma Spurs who finished second will be given their 300,000/- next week because we could not reach them immediately,`` Cheyo said.
He said women`s champions Jeshi Stars were also given 400,000/-, Lady Lion (300,000/-) and Cargo Ladies (200,000/-).
In another development Cheyo urged teams which will compete in the Union League to start their preparations as soon as possible.
The championships will be staged from May 17 - 23 in Zanzibar.
