Prime Minister Mizengo Pinda has assured the public that he will discharge his official responsibilities in accordance with the constitution and without fear.

The Premier made the assurance yesterday when speaking at a thanksgiving mass to worshippers held at St Anna Church of Hananasif Parish in Dar es Salaam.

``I have been told by the Parish Chairman that the words `Do not fear` are written 365 times in the Bible... I will take the advice which I have been given by my parishiners when fulfilling my responsibilities,`` he said.

In a mass which was led by seven priests, the PM said that what has happened was a challenge to everybody and the important thing was to ask why it did happen.

``One important thing to note is that people were not pleased the way the government was managing its business, that is why we have reached where we are today the big challenge which we have as leaders is to restore public trust which had vanished,`` Pinda said.

He said: ``Today (yesterday) is the sixteenth day since I was sworn in. It is still early many things have been said and done what happened should be a lesson and we are supposed to make sure that it doesn’t happen again.``

Pinda said the government will make sure that legal measures are taken against all culprits who have caused the country to reach where it has reached.

Presiding the mass, Priest Augustino Joseph Kanyegere of Sumbawanga advised the Premier to use the mass not only for thanksgiving to God, but also to ask for wisdom as King Solomon did.

``Ask God to grant you wisdom as King Solomon did so that you can assist the President wisely`` Priest Kanyegere said.

He insisted on the need for the Premier to start his new reponsibilities with prayers so that he can succeed.

``You are supposed to pray everyday as the late Father of the Nation Mwalimu Nyerere was doing,`` he advised.

The priest of St. Anna Church, Gaspar Mtengese told the worshipers that they should stop complaining to God because he provided them with blessings everyday.

``We are complaining too much to God because of our worldly desires, like failures of children in school, job opportunities or securing good houses...Through this way we will not get anything,`` he said.

He told worshipers to repent and believe in God because He was the creator and know of everyone`s needs in life.

Other Priests who led the mass were Thomas Marwa of Hananasif Parish, Edgar Mbegu of TEC, Anselm Kashakila from Rukwa, Thadei Mhagama from Songea and Peter Simchile of Sumbawanga.
