Police investigation into `Mwanahalisi` editors` case yet to be completed

The Kisutu Resident Magistrate`s Court in Dar es Salaam was told on Friday that investigation in the case involving assault and pouring of acid on two `Mwanahalisi` and `Mseto` journalists was yet to be completed.
This was said before Principal Resident Magistrate Eddy Lyamuya by Inspector of Police Hudson Ndusyepo who also asked the court to schedule another mentioning date for the case.
Magistrate Lyamuya acquesced to the request and adjourned the matter whereby the accused were returned to remand custody.
At the begining of this month, Magistrate Lyamuya had told the accused that she would not grant the accused bail, but told them that they could ask for the same at the High Court.
In the main case, the accused are a city businessman Alex Anyimike Mwandemele famously known as Chusa (28) who resides at Kigogo Luhanga, Hashimu Mdoe also known as Madilu (32), a taxi driver who resides at Tegeta Nyaishozi in the city.
Other accused are businessman Augustino Joseph, also known as Cheusi (30), who resides at Mwanyamala; Hamisi Almas Ramadhani (25), a welder who lives at Mwanayamala and Alfred Moshi alias Chambya (64), an electrician who resides at Kinondoni.
It is alleged that between December 25, last year and January 5, this year in the city, the accused conspired to harm the Editor of `Mwanahalisi` newspaper, Saed Hemed Kubenea.
In the second count, it was alleged that on January 5. this year at `Mwanahalisi` and `Mseto` offices situated at Kasaba Street in Kinondoni District, the accused did unlawfully pour acid on the face of Kubenea and caused him tremendous injury.
In the third count, it was alleged that on the same date and place, the accused did unlawfully assault Kubenea on his check with a sword causing him injury.
And on the same date and place they also assaulted Ndimara Tegambwage on the back of his head with a sword.
Outside the court premises some of the accused relatives told `The Guradian`` that they were teaming up together so as to be able to raise enough funds to hire an advocate to help seek bail for the accused in the High Court.
The case was adjourned till February 29, this year.
