The government has said it has started implementing proposals of the Parliamentary Select Committee that probed the controversial awarding of an emergency power generating contract to Richmond Development Company, LLC.

Moving the motion to adjourn Parliament yesterday, Prime Minister Mizengo Pinda said he had taken the initiative of forming a strong advisory team that would help him in implementing the select committee`s recommendations.

Pinda said the task force had drawn membership from various ministries, including the State House (ministerial council secretariat), Prime Minister`s Office, Planning Commission, Civil Service Management, Engineers Registration Board, Public Procurement Regulatory Authority, (PPRA), Local Government and Ethics Commission.

``I commend the House Select Committee for a job well done. The government has learnt a lot. The best answer is for the government to adhere to ethics when performing its duties,`` said Pinda.

He said his first and foremost responsibility was to make sure that the newly sworn-in ministers worked hard to meet people`s expectations.

``Why should the government be probed by a select team while it has all the required professionals who would make it adhere to established regulations? the Prime Minister asked.
