The new cabinet will be named on Monday, the Speaker of the National Assembly, Samwel Sitta, announced yesterday.

Adjourning the Bunge after Prime Minister elect Mizengo Pinda was endorsed, Sitta said the new ministers would be sworn in on Wednesday at Chimwaga State House in Dodoma.

According to the Speaker, the House session will resume after the swearing-in ceremony.

The Parliament sitting, which started last month, has been suspended after President Jakaya Kikwete dissolved the cabinet following former Prime Minister Lowassa`s resignation.

Edward Lowassa, who had been prime minister since 2005, resigned from the post on Thursday after he had been implicated in a controversial emergency power generation contract signed between TANESCO and Richmond Development Company LLC.

The American company was awarded a dubious 172.9bn/- tender to generate power in 2006 in a manner that brought the role of top government leaders into question.

A Parliamentary Select Committee was formed late last year to find out the truth of the matter, and its report was tabled on Wednesday.
