The Ministry of Justice and Constitutional Affairs, through the Directorate of Public Prosecutions, will provide training to 157 newly-recruited state attorneys this year.

Director of Public Prosecutions Eliezer Feleshi told reporters yesterday in Dar es Salaam that his directorate would train the newly-recruited state attorneys from February 6 to March 15, this year, to build their capacity, give them necessary skills to enhance productivity, integrity and professionalism of prosecution services.

``This training programme is part of efforts by the government to civilise and streamline its prosecution service,`` he said.

The training, he noted, would give them some orientation so that when they are finally posted they know how to go about their work.

Feleshi added that the training has been funded through the Millennium Challenge Account Threshold Programme.

He said that local and international training experts would facilitate a total of eight modules with various topics including fundamentals of the attorney general office, modern criminal prosecution skills, writing legal opinions and uses of modern information.

Others are communication technology, international crimes and crimes related to trafficking and terrorism, emerging trends in cyber crime, programme on fighting corruption, money laundering and fraud.

Legal issues related to human rights, gender and the treatment of vulnerable or disadvantaged groups, management and leadership skills.

Attorney General Johnson Mwanyika is expected grace the opening of the training programme.
