Stakeholders from the private sector and non-governmental organizations will have an opportunity to discuss the recently released Controller and Auditor General`s report; it was announced yesterday in Dar es Salaam.

The Vice President, Dr Ali Mohammed Shein, is scheduled to be chief guest at the conference.

Addressing a press conference, the CAG Ludovick Utouh, said the stake-holder`s conference on the improvements of accountability on the use of public funds will be held in Dar es Salaam on Thursday.

According to Utouh, the aim of the meeting is to allow major stake-holders to have an internalized discussion about the report and give the common man`s view on the document.

During the discussion, Utouh said, participants will exchange ideas and techniques related to accountability in public resources.

He said that the meeting will also let the participants gain knowledge about the collection and expenditure of government revenue and resources.

He said that the meeting will also improve the moral effectiveness and efficiency of the government internal and external auditors.

He further said that the conference will also create effectiveness and efficiency in work performance by the Members of Parliament and the members of the Parliamentary Accounts Committee and Local Governments Accounts Committee.

He added that the conference will also improve the relationship between the CAG’s office and the media houses in making available the collections and expenditure of the public resources.

He said that during the conference more focus will be placed on improvement of auditing and accountability.

Utouh said that the conference will also improve accountability of accounting officers in local governments by using parliamentary accounts committees.

He said that there is a need to improve the working standards of accounting officers in the country and that this is one way of making sure that the officers are equipped with accountability tactics.

He added that accountability on public resources in the country is now gaining footholds as this year only four districts provided un-balanced accounts.

He added that there is a need for local governments to be accountable for their resources as they are a step ahead to development.

He said that the conference will also be attended by participants from Ethiopia, Eritrea, Sweden, South Sudan, Somalia, Uganda, Kenya, South Africa , United Kingdom, Ghana and the Revolutionary Government of Zanzibar.
