Tumbi Hospital in Kibaha, Coast Region, will undergo extensive renovations at a cost of 220m/-.

The hospital is owned by Kibaha Education Centre.

The Director of Kibaha Education Centre, Ferdinand Swai, said on Wednesday that the Centre would contribue 120m/-.

100m/- would be disbursed by the government through the Kibaha District Council.

Renovation work has already started. According to the plan, more wards would be constructed to reduce congestion of patients.

We will also build more consultation rooms for doctors, he explained, adding that on completion of the project the hospital would be able to admit 243 patients.

According to the director, there will also be a special room for consultation for VIP patients and several rooms for voluntary counseling for people suffering from HIV/Aids.

The plan also entails construction of an Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and a ward for mental health patients.

The latter now share the same ward with other patients, which he said, was not improper.
