Celtel Tanzania is for the fifth consecutive year set to support the road safety campaign by sponsoring the production of Road Safety Stickers to be used all over the country.
A press statement issued by the company yesterday in Dar es Salaam quotes Celtels Marketing Director, Margaret Kosiltany as saying that the move is geared to improve safety on roads.
We understand that road safety is very important as road accidents cost many lives and inflict a significant setback to the national economy by sponsoring this campaign, we believe that this is one way of making a significant contribution to the safety of the community and making lives better and we are really proud to be associated with this noble course, says Kosiltany.
She said from 2002 Celtel has been supporting this initiative and to date the company has already injected over 100m/- into the production of road safety stickers. She said that this year alone, Celtel has spent over 22m/- for the project.
She added: This project outlines what Celtel stands for, we believe in not only providing world class telecommunication services but we have committed ourselves to Making Life better for the community by engaging ourselves in a range of community based project i.e. Build our Nation.
According to the statement, the Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Mselem Masud Mtulia spoke moments after receiving the stickers and commended Celtel for its initiative to support the Road Safety Campaign.
Safety is very important to every individual and it is the responsibility of every Tanzanian.
It is very encouraging that private sector supports us in the safety campaign and I would like to honor Celtels commitment to supporting community courses, said Mtulia.
This years message is safe Life, Avoid Road Accident, concludes the statement.
