Liberian President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf arrived in Tanzania yesterday for a three-day state visit at the invitation of President Jakaya Kikwete.

She is leading a 24 strong delegation which landed at the Julius Nyerere International Airport on board N 287DL plane and was welcomed by the President Kikwete.

Tanzanian government officials who were at the airpot to welcome President Sir Leaf were Chief of Defence Forces Gen Davis Mwamunyange, Foreign Affairs and International Co-operation deputy minister Mahadhi Juma Maalim, Community Development, Gender and Children minister Sofia Simba, Dar es Salaam Regional Commissioner Said Meck Sadick and members of the diplomatic corp.

She inspected a military parade and received a 21-gun salute before traditional dancers and a brass band gave her a warm welcome to The Land of Kilimanjaro.

Last evening, President Kikwete hosted dinner for his guest at State House.

The two presidents are expected to hold talks today.

According to a statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Co-operation, the Liberian Superwoman is scheduled to launch the African Leaders Fight against Malaria (ALMA) project office today.

Among other activities, President Sirleaf is also scheduled to give a talk at the University of Dar es Salaam on the Role of Women in African Development.

The timetable shows that tomorrow, she will visit A to Z mosquito factory in Arusha before her departure back home.
