Twenty year old Grace Chimagu has emerged winner of the Miss Ruvuma beauty pageantry after winning the contest that ended on Wednesday.
Chimagu replaces outgoing Joyce Yohana and would also represent the region at this year’s Miss Tanzania contest to be held in Dar es Salaam later this year.
Ten contestants were involved in the final showdown and these are Patricia Kajubi (18), Agnes Francis (20), Magreth Chiwangu (24), Lillian Solomon (20), Jemima Ilenge (18), Shakila Charles (21), Rachel Jonas (18), Kalista Tamba (19) and Leila Lutengele (19).
The show was staged at the Bombambili venue and attended by sizeable crowd.
Jackson Luhahazi was the chief judge who named Leila Lipendela as the runner-up while third placed in the show was Gemima Ilenge.
Prize for the top three winners were 400,000/-, 300,000/- and 200,000/-. Fourth placed in the final standings was
Lillian Solomon as Kalista Tamba trailed her. Both took home cash prizes of 150,000/-.
The top five winners have been guaranteed employment at three firms including PSI Tanzania and White Ribbon.
Each of the rest five competitors have been given a consolation cash prizes of 100,000/-.
This is the first time for the top five losers to get a consolation cash prizes ever since the competition was inaugurated.
