total of 11,333 projects have been funded for implementation under the second phase of the Tanzania Social Action Fund (TASAF) by March, this year, the House was told yesterday.
TASAF is an organization which deals with funding the construction of classes and wells in the villages.

Reacting to a basic question by Kombo Khamis Kombo (CUF- Mgononi), Minister for Community Development, Gender and Children Sophia Simba said the funds will facilitate the implementation of 10,571 community development projects in the mainland and 762 projects in Zanzibar .
In his basic question, Kombo had wanted to know the number of projects which had been supported by the Fund in both the mainland and Zanzibar.

He said the Fund has been very helpful in the development of the people both in Zanzibar and mainland, but the communities were not aware of the cost in running the projects.
The minister explained that the projects were valued at Sh200,358,411,836.

“Out of the stated amount Sh191,273,453,642.17 is for the projects implemented on the mainland and Sh9,084,958,193.83 for projects implemented in Zanzibar,” she noted.
Simba said implementation of TASAF projects has been successful to the communities because they (communities) have now understood the objectives of the projects assisted by the Fund.

“This has given hope and zeal to the communities by proposing other TASAF projects to solve their problems and reduce poverty in their communities,” the minister said.

She said recent studies indicated that the communities were satisfied by the support given to them through the Fund by improving their lives and empowering them in their economic activities.
The fund has been helping citizens to change their life and to solve problems pertaining to water and education.
