Vodacom Tanzania Limited and Nokia yesterday entered into a partnership that will see the introduction of two internet-enabled mobile phones.
The phones, which target the country’s youth market, are Nokia Asha 200 and Nokia Asha 302; and Vodacom will run a campaign that will see Nokia Asha 200, targeting young professionals which will be sold at 149,999/- and Nokia Asha 302 at 219,999/- respectively.
A statement issued yesterday by Vodacom Tanzania Limited said customers will get double airtime and internet bundle for free upon their first recharge of either 1,000/-, 2,000/- or 5,000/- for six months. Moreover, customers will enjoy unlimited Facebook, Twitter and Wikipedia for free, it added.
While addressing guests and the media during the launch of the campaign, Vodacom Tanzania Limited head of acquisitions & devices, Mgopelinyi Kiwanga, noted that this campaign will aim at maintaining and growing the Vodacom’s market share and leadership.
He added that the youth form a big percentage of the population of Tanzania hence the need to give them affordable services and products.
“We hope that with this initiative, we shall be able to reach as many consumers out there as possible,” said Kiwanga.
Kiwanga also mentioned that there shall be regular countrywide activations which shall enable many customers to be reached, adding that this is one of the many launches Vodacom Tanzania has planned to have this year.
“I would like to assure our subscribers that we shall continue bringing more and better services in order to serve them better and also to have a great relationship together,” he said.
According to Samson Majwala, Nokia Country Director, the phones have interesting features which are easy to use, a factor that will attract more subscribers to buy.
“The phones are user-friendly and catchy to the eyes. We hope that customers shall enjoy using them,” said Majwala.
