Ilala flop terribly in Coca-Cola tourney

Holders Kigoma handed Ilala under-17 team a comprehensive 4-0 defeat during their group stage match of the ongoing Copa Coca-Cola championship match played at the Tanganyika Packers ground in Dar es Salaam yesterday. 

The winners wrapped up business right within the first half before defending well their goal in the remaining 45 minutes to seal off the victory.

Kigoma striker Ramadhan Salum realized a rare feat of hat-trick in the 13, 43 and 45 minutes of the game as team mate Athuman Rashid scored the second goal for his team after 19 minutes.

This is the second victory for the holders in three appearances while Ilala have lost all the three group stage matches.

Ilala lost to Arusha, Kigoma and Lindi as they await their fourth math against Pemba south at the same venue tomorrow.

Kilimanjaro team continued to shine in their group D after breezing past Shinyanga by three goals in the match played at the Karume Memorial Stadium in Dar es Salaam.

Kilimanjaro that has won two matches and drew once had their goals scored by Adam Soba after eleven and 46 minutes while James Henry celebrated shaking of the net nine minutes to time.

In another match played early in the morning, Temeke and Mtwara battled to a 1-1 draw at Kibaha venue in Coast region.

Ali Makalani scored for Temeke while Adam Swaleh pulled the equalizer for Mtwara.

At Nyumbu Stadium also in Kibaha saw Morogoro and Northern Pemba battle to a 1-1 draw.

Pemba striker Amin Kassim put his team ahead after 51 minutes as Morogoro’s Mutalemwa Katunzi scored the equalizer 15 minutes to time in the Group B match.

Other matches expected to be played by yesterday evening involved Lindi vs Arusha (Tanganyika Packers), Manyara vs Unguja Urban West (Nyumbu), Kinondoni vs Mbeya (Tamco) and Unguja South vs Coast region (Karume).

There will be no matches today as teams are resting before resuming the tournament tomorrow in the above mentioned venues.
