Troubled former Mainland premiership champions Young Africans are expecting Brazilian coach Marcio Maximo early next week, a statement from the club’s information officer Louis Sendeu confirmed yesterday.

The coach, who was due to arrive yesterday as extensively reported by most of media in the country, is currently tied up with his present club Democrata FC in Rio de Janeiro.

The statement reveals that already Yanga have advanced a flight ticket to the former Taifa Stars coach for the trip that would involve brief negotiators before sealing off the coaching contract.

The reason behind Maximo’s flight postponement is based on the fact that his current team has a crucial game on Saturday.

Ahead of boarding the flight to Dar es Salaam next week, Maximo has already sent message to club members and officials to work hard and cooperate in re-building up the team.

Upon his arrival and signing up the contract, Maximo has an uphill task of guiding Yanga into their Kagame Cup title retention campaign next month.

The Kagame Cup, which Yanga won for the fourth time last year, kicks off on July 23 through August.

Earlier, Maximo was supposed to land in Dar es Salaam yesterday to honour the contractual invitation.

Some Yanga fans had flocked the Julius Nyerere International Airport arrival lounge yesterday only to be told of the coach’s reservation cancellation.

In related development, Sendeu was quick ducked speculations surrounding Taifa Stars and Simba Sports Club fullback Shomari Kapombe who is rumoured to have signed for the rival club behind the doors.

“I’m not aware of this though Kapombe might be in our shortlist of players earmarked for recruits ahead of the Mainland premiership season,” he said.
