Civic United Front (CUF) national chairman Prof Ibrahim Lipumba has said that the National Development Corporation (NDC) has a big potential to make Tanzania an industrial country if its projects will be implemented timely.
Prof Lipumba was speaking yesterday at the ongoing Dar es Salaam International Trade Fair organised by the Tanzania Trade Development Authority (Tantrade).
He said NDC has many projects which can eradicate poverty in the country if it will be empowered by the government.
Prof Lipumba cited Liganga and Mchuchuma projects, saying if they are well implemented they can eradicate the problem of unreliable power in the country and stop from depending on hydro-power.
According to him, DITF provides opportunities for people to visit different pavilions, including NDC's, and learn about the responsibilities of the organisation to improve the economic status of the country in industrial sector but also to know challenges that they face.
“We know the work which has been done by this public organisation but my worry is implementation of projects. We still have faith onon the them, hopefully everything will be going as planned for the objective of improving the country's economic well-being,” he said.
For his part, NDC managing director Gideon Nasari said his company has faith in Chinese investors because they have the financial capacity to implement the Liganga and Mchuchuma projects for the development of the country.
He said the projects require huge financial investment, adding that after completion the projects will be able to produce iron and steel far more than the demand of the country.
Nasari called on the people to come and visit the NDC pavilion to learn about what the organisation does.
“This is your organisation. Once you visit the Sabasaba ground just pass by the NDC pavilion and ask question about the projects we are undertaking or plan to undertake,” he said.
He said NDC is there to improve the economic well-being of the country.
