Tanzania Basketball Federation, TBF, is in search of another basketball export this time targeting up and coming player Anthony Geikanga (18).
Geikanga boarded Johannesburg-bound flight yesterday in pursuit of penetrating into the NBA ranks should he excel in the trials expected to last for a week.
The NBA talent scouting camp has also attracted other basketball new comers from African countries as well.
TBF president Richard Kasesela said Geikanga has been spotted by local coaches who approved him for further training to improve his NBA career aspirations.
A panel of local coaches under Bahati Mgunda proposed Geikanga for the week-long camp in South Africa.
Geikanga, who exhibited his potentials while studying at Makongo high school in Dar es Salaam, has been trained by local coaches since April ahead of his south-bound departure yesterday.
The player has promised to work hard and convince the NBA talent scouting agents.
This is the fourth time for TBF to send a representative with Martin Likokola as the last player to attempt the NBA camp.
Hasheem Thabeet remains the only Tanzanian basketball export in the United States now featuring for Memphis Grizzlers.
However, Thabeet did not have to undergo NBA camp in South Africa and instead he was spotted by scouting agents in Mombasa.
