Arusha region is expected to host a basketball clinic this weekend to be conducted by former NBA player and New York Knicks’ assistant coach, Greg Brittenham.

The clinic will be staged in Soweto suburb and is expected to attract a number of basketball players and enthusiasts.

Greg, who was in charge of the Knicks for a reign of 20 years, is already in Arusha and has volunteered to offer this special clinic while providing all participant players with T-shirts.

The two-day event organised by Tanzania Basketball Federation TBF will nurture players from Arusha and neighbouring regions.

The clinic has also secured assistance from Israel Saria, a Tanzanian and the owner of www.TanzaniaSports.com website, living in United Kingdom.

Saria played a crucial role to hook Brittenham into the country with the help of Tanzania Embassy in the United Kingdom.

He parted with a sum of money to fund the clinic while Coca Cola will offer balls and beverages during the occasion.

The clinic has attracted 100 U-17 players. 70 of them are boys and the rest are girls.

TBF vice-president Phares Magesa has urged Arusha residents to rally behind the event and make it a successful.

He expressed appreciation to all teachers, parents and stakeholders who co-operated in the build up towards the staging of the clinic.

He also highlighted that TBF will continue to organise these kind of clinics all over the country with an objective of scouting talents.
