Church seeks 600m/- to build new premises

East Africa Cooperation, minister Samuel Sitta has called upon religious leaders to shun acts of immorality that may disrupt the country’s peace.

He appealed to the clerics to instill a ‘God-fearing spirit’ into their followers in the hope of “…creating a responsible society and enhancement of national development…”

He made the remarks over the weekend in Dar es Salaam at a fundraising ceremony aimed at raising 600 million/- for the construction of St. Andrea Anglican Church in Magomeni.

“Religious leaders are big partners in the country’s development process since they have access to millions of people…” MP. Sitta deduced.

Sitta who is the Member of Parliament for Urambo-East said the government appreciates the contribution made by various religious institutions in the fight against public threat.

Archbishop to the Anglican Church of Tanzania, Dr Valentino Mokiwa asked Tanzanians to give part of their income to the church to facilitate construction of the building.

Coordinator from Tanzania Catholic Charismatic (TCC), Estelatus Mtema who is also a member of the Emaus Prayers’ Center-Ubungo encoyuraged the masses to attend a symposium scheduled for July 7th this year at Jangwani grounds in Dar es Salaam.

Saying they will have a chance to pray and ask God for blessings that will help them change their moral behavior. Amen.
