The government said in Parliament yesterday that it gives schoolchildren with special needs great care to ensure that they follow their studies without problems.

Aggrey Mwanri, State Deputy Minister in the Prime Minister’s Office (Local Government and Regional Administration) stated this in the House when responding to a question posed by Special Seat MP Al-Shaymaa Kwegyir.

He said that the government had identified schoolchildren with special needs and at all times it has ensured that they get teachers on different fields.

However, he said the government faced the shortage of teachers in special need education, but promised to allocate those available equitably to ensure that needy schoolchildren get their services.

Meanwhile, the State Minister in the President’s Office (Public Service Management) Celine Kombani acknowledged in the House that some districts in the country were difficult to work in due to lack of essential services.

She made the remark in response to Ngorongoro MP Saning’o Telele’s question. “The government is working hard to address the problem of shortage of civil servants caused by difficult environments,” she stressed.

Kombani also informed that from now on the government would allocate graduates in the sectors of health, education and agriculture directly to working stations. Under the current arrangement, all graduates are required to apply for job on completing their studies.

Furthermore, she said the government would put more emphasis in the implementation of the Salary and Incentive Policy in Public Service of 2010, which provides that those posted to stations referred to as “difficult working environments”, should be given incentives.
