Highflying African Stars Band `Twanga Pepeta,” will perform at a special concert dubbed Konyagi Extravaganza on the second day of Idd el Fitr at TCC Club, Chang’ombe.
The co-ordinator of the show, Joseph Kapinga, said yesterday that the show will be of its kind as it will be special to celebrate Idd el Fitr in Temeke District.
“Twanga Pepeta have not performed in Temeke since the Holy Month of Ramadhan started so we expect it to pull a larger crowd,” Kapinga said, adding that the show was organised by Bob Entertainment and Keen Arts under the sponsorship of Konyagi.
On her part, Twanga Pepeta Director Asha Baraka said that they will use the concert to introduce new musicians in the band as well as to promote the band’s new album known as Kauli.
Songs in the album are Kiapo cha Mapenzi, Umenivika Umasikini, Mtoto wa Mwisho, Dunia Daraja and Penzi la Shemeji.
“We will also use the show to introduce a Twanga Pepeta dancer, Mary Khamis we have employed as a dancer after the exit of Aisha Madinda who crossed over to Extra Bongo,” Asha said.
The group will make a historic concert to show to the audience that the band is a force to reckon with.
Other female dancers apart from Mary are Fasha Sunday, Beatrice Mwangosi “Baby Tall”, Asha Said “Asha Sharapova,” Regina Filbert, Grace Kaswaga, Vicky Pandapanda, Lillian Tungaraza “Internet,” Sabrina Mathew and Maria Soloma.
Male dancers are Abdillahi Zungu, Kassim Mohammed “Super K,” Bakari Kisongo “Mandela” and Said Mtanga.
Vocalists-cum-dancers are Charles Baba, Dogo Rama, Msafiri Diouf, Amigolas, Vena, Saleh Kupaza, Luiza Mbutu, Khadiji Mnoga and Janet Isinika.
Instrumentalists comprise Jojo Jumanne, Adolph Mbinga, Thabiti Abdul, Miraji Shakashia, Gody Kanuti, Kado, Victor Mkambi, Haji, James Kibosho and MCD to mention but a few.
