CECAFA organises referees` fitness test

Kagame Cup referees are expected to undergo a fitness test examination to be conducted at the National Stadium in Dar es Salaam today.

The referees will be tested to ascertain their physical fitness and ability to handle the tournament matches that kick off at the above mentioned stadium on Saturday.

 The Council of East and Central Africa Football Associations, CECAFA, has appointed 15 referees who will be responsible to officiate the matches.

Besides the host country’s referees, the rest from the CECAFA membership block were expected to arrive by yesterday in time for the tests and matches.
Central referees earmarked for the matches and their respective countries in brackets are Anthony Ogwayo (Kenya), Dennis Batte (Uganda), Israel Mujuni (Tanzania), Issa Kagabo (Rwanda), Thierry Nkurunziza (Burundi), Farah Aden Ali (Djibouti) and Waziri Sheha (Zanzibar).
 
Assistant referees are Elias Kuloba and Peter Sabatia (Kenya), Musa Balikoowa (Uganda), Hamis Chang'walu and Jesse Erasmo (Tanzania), Simba Honore (Rwanda), Abdulahi Mahamoud (Djibouti) and Josephat Bulali (Zanzibar).
 
All matches of the tournament will be played at the National Stadium as holders Young Africans meet Burundi’s Atletico Olympique in the Saturday opener.

Teams for the tourney were expected to start arriving by yesterday.

Mainland Tanzania will be represented by three teams including holders Yanga, six times winners Simba and debutants Azam FC.
Zanzibar has Mafunzo FC joining the fray for the second year in a row.
