Some of the Bongo Star search contestants display their skills at the Golden Tulip hotel in Dar es Salaam yesterday. The BSS edition has won more sponsors as the show gains popularity.

More sponsors have joined hands to boost the Bongo Star Search ‘second chance’ that is aired live through the country’s leading television Channel, ITV on Saturday at 21:00 hours and repeated on Tuesdays at 23:00hours.

Organisers of the show, the Benchmark Productions Limited, yesterday unveiled a new line-up of the sponsors that include TIGO, PSI (Salama Condoms), Champion, (Gender Health), NSSF and Golden Tulip Hotel.

The sponsors join the fray with the Tanzania Breweries firm that has been at the helm of supporting the show for the third year in a row.

The BSS prize fund has been raised to hit a 55m/- mark in an effort to electrify the competitors and improve their quality of life.

So far, there are ten contestants who will be vying for the top position. The competitors and their BSS numbers in brackets are Rogers Lucas (23), Bella Kombo (5), Chibi Dayo (7), Sarafina Mshindo (12), HAji Ramadhan (11), Mary Banyikwa (15), Mary Lucas (16), Waziri Salum (27), Beatrice William (4) and Imani Lissu (12).

Meanwhile, Banyukwa has already been dispatched since last week as the rest are still in the fray.

Besides the brewers, other sponsors who have also been supporting the BSS shows and still hold the fort are Paradise Express Hotel, Shoprite Supermarket, Shear Illusions, Fly 540, Photo Point, Biggy Respect, Kilimanjaro Drinking Water, AAR Health Care, SELCOM and Emirates Barber Shop.

On behalf of the organizers, Rita Poulsen expressed her sincere appreciation to not only the above named sponsors but also to Turn Around Academy located inside the Golden Tulip Hotel for hosting the BSS contestants.

The BSS Saturday shows has been a hit of the country as viewers would not afford to miss the programme owing to its thrills and entertainment.
