The government will table in the House before end of this parliamentary period  criteria for loan application to higher learning students. Deputy Minister for Education and Vocational Training, Philipo Mulugo reported to Members of Parliament of corruption complains from students.

In his supplementary question, Yahaya Kassim Issa (CCM) wanted to know how prepared the ministry of education and vocational training was bring about change in the administration of student loan issues.

Nkasi North MP, Mohamed Kessy (CCM) pointed out that Zanzibar, population 1.3 million, needs a loan board and suggested the existing one be used for both Tanzania mainland and Zanzibar.

Responding, Mulugo said the government has formed an office in Zanzibar for the very purpose. He explained however that at the moment they were“…operating in Dodoma and Dar es Salaam and students can easily access the services…”.

He added that the government has plansg to open more offices in Mwanza, Mbeya and Arusha.

In his basic question, Jaku Hashim Ayoub from the House of Representatives Zanzibar, wanted to know when Zanzibar’s own Loan Board will be established to reduce what he called ‘disturbances to the students.’

Mulugo proved the question to be unresearched and ill informed explaining that “…Zanzibar already has an office…” in fact “…it started work on April 1st on the Island”. And decide to stop by, the deputy minister was kind enough to offer directions saying the office was at, “…Kinazini closer to the Bank of Tanzania office in Unguja...”
