Striker Thomas Ulimwengu, who is the only foreign-based player named in the under 20 national soccer team (Ngorongoro Heroes) squad, is expected to join the team’s training camp today.
Ulimwengu, who plays for the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) soccer champions TP Mazembe, was named this week by the youth teams head coach, Kim Poulsen, and was expected to arrive yesterday night by Kenya Airways from Lubumbashi.
Ngorongoro Heroes started the residential camp on April 10 preparing for the U20 continental championship match against Sudan.
The match will be held at the National Stadium in Dar es Salaam on April 21 starting at 04:00pm.
According to coach Poulsen, the team will start two (morning and evening) training sessions today at the Karume Memorial Stadium.
Other players forming the provisional squad are Saleh Malande, Aishi Manula, Hassan Kessy, Said Ruhava, Carlos Kilenge, Dizzana Issa, Amani Kyata, Issa Rashid, Emily Mgeta and Khamis Mroki.
Others are Ramadhan Singano, Frank Sekule, Frank Domayo, Omega Seme, Abdallah Hussein, Ibrahim Rajab, Hassan Dilunga, Alhaje Zege, Jerome Lambele, Atupele Green and Simon Msuvan.
The second leg against Sudan will be staged in Khartoum between May 4 and 6.
The continental finals will be hosted by Algeria in March next year and four top placed teams will qualify for the world championship to be held in Turkey.
