Azam FC heads for Mapinduzi Cup tomorrow

DAR ES SALAAM's Azam FC uis expected to head to Zanzibar tomorrow to participate in the 2018 Mapinduzi Cup.
Zanzibar Football Association has organized the event, slated to kick off tomorrow and come to a close on January 13.

Azam FC is set to confront Zanzibar's Mwenge in the opening match the following day.

The Dar es Salaam outfit, which is in group A of the event, had earlier been set to take on Jamhuri on January 2, as per the fixture which was later changed by ZFA.

Azam FC will then lock horns with Jamhuri on January 3.  Azam FC's next game will the side face URA of Uganda two days later.

Azam FC will complete the group stage by playing Simba on January 6.

Should Azam FC make it to the last four's stage of the event, the squad will play the match on January 10, whereas the final has been scheduled for January 13.

Azam are the Mapinduzi Cup's defending champions. They won the silverware with a 1-0 win over Simba in the final, with midfielder Himid Mao drilling in for the eventual winners.

Prior to heading to the Isles, Azam FC will entertain Stand United in the Mainland Premier League's match in Dar es Salaam, slated to kick off at 7pm today.
