Police holding four women over killing of a foreigner

POLICE in Zanzibar are holding four Tanzanian women for allegedly killing a Germany national in what has been described as ‘love and envy’.
Mjini Magharibi Regional Police Commander (RPC), Hassan Nassir Ali, said that the man died after being stabled several times on his body.

“We are holding the four women for interrogation on the killings of the foreigner,” the RPC said.

The regional police chief said that the source of incident is suspected to be ‘love and  envy’ “but we’re still working on the matter.”

RPC Ali said that the incident occurred early yesterday morning in Shangani area, Mjini Magharibi Region in the Indian Ocean archipelago.

He said the incident occurred at around 3:30am soon after welcoming the New Year 2018, when the deceased was ‘enjoying’ in one of the joints in Isles with the four women who are suspected to be his ‘lovers’.

RPC Ali named the German national as Gerd Winkdl (60).

He said before the incident, the deceased and the suspects were drunk and though it isn’t clear on how they started to stabbing the alien.

Earlier investigation, according to police shows that the man had an affair with all the four women, but they started quarrelling and finally end-up killing him.

The body of the deceased has been preserved at the Mnazi Mmoja Hospital before handed over to his relatives.

RPC Ali said that the deceased was living in Isles and he was working as hotelier in one of the tourist lodges in the Zanzibar archipelago.
